Dr. Ken James grew up playing basketball and other high school sports in Vancouver, WA. He earned an undergraduate degree in science and business at Brigham Young University. He played four years of basketball at the university, culminating in their number-two nationally ranked team winning the NIT (National Invitational Tournament) in NY in 1966. Ken met and married his wife Rhondda, at BYU. They then moved back to Washington, to attend four years of dental school at the University of Washington. Rhondda was from Australia, so early visits to her home culminated in Ken being invited to be part of the Australian National Basketball program.
Dr. James and Rhondda moved to Australia after graduation from dental school to practice dentistry and to compete at the Munich Olympic Games. Dr. James started his professional dental career in Australia but he missed the beautiful scenery of the Northwest. He missed the changing seasons, the mild climate, the sports teams, and most of all, the people. He enjoys cheering on the Mariners, Seahawks, and his grandchildren’s local teams at sporting events. His greatest passion is spending quality time with his wife Rhondda, his three daughters, three sons-in-law, and six awesome grandchildren. Travel is also a joy, having visited 88 countries, many playing basketball, with his family, or lecturing on dentistry.
As founder of the James Gang Dental Group, it has been a great joy to incorporate his son-in-law Dr. George Gosztola and his daughter Chelsea Hollister into the greatest dental team in America.
